Full and partial dentures
A full denture replaces all teeth in an upper or lower arch. A partial denture replaces selected missing teeth while using the remaining teeth for support. Both are custom made to fit the individual contours of your mouth.
During your evaluation, Dr. Caldwell will examine the gums, bone and remaining teeth and discuss which design is appropriate. If teeth need treatment before the denture is made, that sequence will be included in the plan.

Adjusting to a new denture
New dentures can require an adjustment period. Speaking and eating may feel different while the cheeks, tongue and muscles learn how to work with the appliance. Begin with manageable foods and follow the instructions provided by the office.
Sore spots should be evaluated rather than tolerated. Small adjustments can make a meaningful difference, particularly during the first weeks.
Long-term maintenance
The mouth continues to change over time, even after teeth are replaced. A denture may eventually need adjustment, relining or replacement as the supporting tissues change.
Regular dental examinations remain important for checking the fit of the denture, the condition of remaining teeth and the health of the gums and other oral tissues.
